Dr Divya Perumal

Summary :
Dr Perumal is a NZ and UK trained Ophthalmologist with advanced training in Glaucoma and Cataract Surgery. As a former optometrist and vision scientist, Divya has a special understanding of the optics of the eye and the evidence that dictates proper clinical practice.
She graduated from the University of Auckland, obtaining multiple awards in optometry and medicine, including the Calvin Ring Prize in Ophthalmology, for the best performance in her field and the Arthur Thomas Paterson Scholarship in Ophthalmology.
Her enthusiasm and interest in the ophthalmic field is expressed in all that she does, from her warm interactions with patients to published articles in international peer-reviewed journals. Dr Perumal is recognised amongst her peers as a leading glaucoma specialist, especially in the areas of interventional glaucoma and managing complex glaucoma surgery.

Marriage
Dr Perumal marries Prasanna, a software engineer, and they have two young children, Dhilan and Darian.

UK glaucoma fellowship
- Fellowship completed at the prestigious Manchester Royal Eye Hospital (UK) in Glaucoma.
- She was involved in evaluating the preferred primary glaucoma procedure amongst members of the European Glaucoma Society; and co-authored clinical papers.
Dr Perumal becomes a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO)

- She practiced in a private ophthalmic practice in Auckland and at Greenlane Clinical Center, and is actively involved in training ophthalmic surgeons.
Cutting Edge Technology
· Dr Perumal keeps ahead with latest innovation in glaucoma. She is one of the first NZ surgeons to use I-Stent 2/W, XEN, Preserflo, Kahook Dual Blade, Micropulse and Paul drainage tube in the management of Glaucoma.
