Our Process :
Assessment
Detailed measurements of the eyes are taken for safety and accuracy, and the team will discuss your options. If you wear contact lenses, please leave them out and wear glasses for two full days prior to the day of your assessment.
Usually, at the same visit, you will meet your surgeon who will thoroughly examine the front and back of the eye and discuss your eyesight problems and lens options. Our surgeons have also published widely on the safety of cataract and lens replacement surgery with various lens options.
Procedure
The procedure is comfortable and quick, usually less than 20 minutes for each eye. IV sedation is provided by an anaesthetist for maximal comfort. Both eyes are typically done on the same day.
Aftercare
A clear shield is provided so that you can see and function during the first few hours of recovery. Rest your eyes until the next day.
Your New Eyes
A follow-up appointment the next day will check how you are feeling and measure how much better your eyesight is. The vision recovers quickly, with the vast majority of patients regaining driving standard vision without glasses the next day but most people have 1 or 2 quiet days afterwards.
There are a number of differences between going to the public sector for your cataract surgery, and going privately through Re:Vision. Here are some of the key ones :
- Public waiting lists for cataract surgery are currently very long, meaning you could be waiting for up to a year. There are also restrictions with regards to the level of vision that meets public surgery standards.
- Our surgeons are highly experienced and specialise in cataract surgery. Your surgeon will oversee all stages of your treatment.
- We utilise the latest available technology with multiple measurements performed before the surgery to ensure you get a customised lens to meet your unique visual demands.
- We typically perform same day bilateral surgery, meaning that you can have the treatment for both eyes on the same day, minimising appointments and visits to the clinic.
- Premium lens technologies allow us to optimise your vision beyond what publicly available lens implants can offer. For example premium lenses, allow us to correct your vision and provide good distance, intermediate and near vision.
- We correct astigmatism as standard using toric lenses – these are generally only available in the public sector for high degrees of astigmatism.
- We offer cataract surgery under topical anaesthesia as standard. This means your eye is numbed with drop only without the need for an injection and there is no need to wear a pad following surgery.
- We provide an anaesthetist on the day of surgery to offer sedation and ensure a seamless procedure.
- Laser refinement of vision is possible following cataract surgery at Re:Vision. This can help you to achieve your best possible vision.
- Our surgeons all have in-depth knowledge when performing cataract surgery on people with complex past eye histories including those who have had previous LASIK, because they also perform laser eye surgery.
Our Technology :
Sirius Tomographer
Combines Placido disk topography with Scheimpflug tomography of the front of the eye to allow the surgeon to perform the safest version of laser vision correction customised to your eyes. The device provides highly accurate measurements of corneal thickness, curvature, power as well as pupil size measurements and is commonly used for refractive surgery planning and follow-up.
Custom Built Surgical Facility
Re:Vision Laser & Cataract was specifically designed and created by our surgeons to provide maximum safety for patients in need of eye surgery. We are fully accredited by the Designated Auditing Agency (DAA) with an excellent scoring.
IOL master 700
The IOLMaster 700 provides highly repeatable and accurate measurements of the eye to allow the surgeon to customise the lens implant in your eye following cataract or RLE surgery. The device provides highly accurate lens thickness, anterior chamber depth, and corneal thickness measurements of the eye. The entire process is completed in about 50 seconds, with a total of 2,000 scans taken per second. During the process, the IOLMaster 700 also performs a 1-mm central retinal scan.
Zeiss Lumera operating microscope with Callisto virtual guidance system
The integral Callisto system in this microscope provides intelligent real time image guidance for incision and toric lens alignment for better management of astigmatism during surgery.
Centurion phacoemulsification machine
This is a highly advanced device utilises cutting edge technology to reduce ultrasound energy output, fluid volume used as well as surgical time to improve safety, consistency and control during cataract surgery.
Focused on solid partnerships.
At Re:Vision, we take pride in our Partner-Centric Culture. We focus on strong alliances with proven successful outcomes to help exceed your specific needs.
